Introducing Daniel Ukiri
GREETINGS
Welcome to my world and to the way I think. I am currently a Major in Environmental Design, with a Minor in Art Studio in the University at Buffalo. I consider art an experiment so I create whatever inspires. It could be graffiti, abstract, or even a simple drawing. I want you to be part of my journey as I grow to become an exceptional artist one day.
Welcome to Dukiri_arts!

My Work
Abstract Shapes & Robot Arms
Completed on 30th October 2018. I first drew this by hand. I drew mostly circles, triangles, and ovals( I did not use any complex shape or form). What brought out this abstract shape was the shading.
When I was satisfied with the image, I used PhotoFox to create the final result.
This design is also part of y wearable art collection. I used it to create my favorite hoodie (the light pink).

Fall Retreat
This photo was taken on 28th October 2018. This was a picture that I took in 2018 at my Fall Retreat. Yes, that's why I named it Fall Retreat. I remember really enjoying that little time that I spent getting to know some wonderful people and learning more about God. I hope that when you see this picture it will bring you joy and besides the landscape itself is very calming. Experiencing nature is a very wonderful feeling.

Building B & W
Looking at a building from an angle really allows you to appreciate its geometry. This is further heightened when the image is in black and white. The shadows become clearer and form distinct shapes for the building form. When I took this photograph, my sole intention was to express its geometry. Looking at it further, it also shows how most objects can be easily drawn with shapes.

What Does God Look Like To You?
I first drew the piece on 18th September 2017. As a Christian, I have always been curious about how God may look like and that was what I was trying to illustrate in the drawing. The planet in His arm is Earth which symbolizes human beings, and Him holding the Earth signifies the relationship between God & humanity. The sole purpose of the green light was only to draw the attention of the viewers to His palm. The overall idea of the piece is to show the creativity of religion because all have very interesting depictions of their deities.

Oeil de dentifrice
This piece was completed in 2017. It was more of an experiment. On that day, I remember wanting to try something different. The first thing that came to my mind was toothpaste. I decided to draw a partial face making the eyes much bigger( I wanted it to be the center of attention). The graffiti at the corner of the eye was just an extra accessory. In the end, I painted the toothpaste on the eye and graffiti. To be honest, it just felt right doing that.

EMPTY
Drawn on 1st August 2016, I was inspired by an advertisement on Instagram that was related to domestic violence. This sheds light on the topic. I started to watch a lot of Youtube videos on domestic violence testimonies from the victims. It made me think if I was in a situation where it is happening in front of me, what would I do? My first thought was to get physical with the abuser then I put myself in a scenario where I am a child, or teenager witnessing it. My conclusion was I may feel confused, and empty if I did not do anything.
